My experience at Meridian has been unparalleled. As a fourth-year student in the Psychology PhD program, I feel I have had the pleasure of getting to know the curriculum, staff and faculty, and spirit of the school quite well.
I cannot imagine developing the proficiency I have by way of any other program. The term "transformation" has become something of a buzzword in the Bay Area lexicon, and I have participated in a few such programs. However, in my experience the staff and faculty have demonstrated superior capacities as healers and teachers, and bring credibility, weight, and dignity to the profession of transformational learning.
One thing I love about Meridian is the way the psychology program emphasizes truly integrative approaches. Many programs claim to be "integrative," but tend to throw together a pastiche of techniques and cherry-pick ideas from different modalities without really asking practitioners to cultivate synergy among the various threads of their learning. By contrast, Meridian emphasizes the synthesis of approaches, and bridges the conventional to the alternative, grounding practitioners in their own truths and sovereignty, while helping to situate them within the larger professional context. The program succeeds in its mission, and its success lies in the stewarding of students' experience by genuinely capable staff and faculty. I feel I have been directly, personally mentored by a group of lovable geniuses, whose perspectives and voices I am sure I will call on for many years to come. I am grateful for the way their abilities have inspired my own.
Personally, I have received much feedback about my growth in capacities from family, friends, and the faculty that have walked side-by-side with me along the way, and my clients routinely remark on how my approach and way of being stands in contrast to their experiences with other therapists.
So much of what I have to offer my clients, friends, and family, are deeply influenced by my time here. I will miss the school dearly upon graduating, and hope others will have the pleasure of developing just such a bond and attachment to this remarkable group of mentors and colleagues.
